Tumay Gunaydin
Tumay Gunaydin was born in Istanbul,Turkey. She graduated from
Sculpture Dept. of Fine Arts Academy in Mimar Sinan University in 2001
where her exceptional abilities earned a place in the studios of world
famous sculptors.
She gained her first exhibit entry in 1997 with her
abstract-figurative works where she was chosen one of only four
sculptors for the entire year to further exhibit in the prestigeous
Istanbul Art Exhibit at Borusan Arts and Culture Center.
Tumay also has been honored with
an invitation to the National Prokonnesos Marble Sculpture Symposium in 1999.
She's been living in New York and performing high end custom stone,plaster works and repairs of all types for Gramercy Park Hotel
(www.ianschragercompany.com) and select private clients including the custom redesign of fireplace in
the newly built Julian Schnabel's Palazzo Chuppi.
Tumay also works on all different kinds
of stone from large scale monuments to marble fireplace mantels,
fountains, benches, urns and statuary. She was called upon to
succesfully repair and restore a late 18th century bust of Julius
Caesar (see gallery) and has been commissioned to San Francisco for
highly delicate custom fireplace mantel repair.
Her specialities include: patina, repair, restoration, grinding, polishing, honing.
